Pamela Johnson
OppFi
Pamela “Pam” Johnson is the Chief Financial Officer at OppFi, where she leads the company’s finance, investor relations, and people operations functions and drives the strategic fiscal strategies necessary to sustain growth in the fintech sector. She is a recognized change agent with over 40 years of experience, and a staunch advocate for leveraging technology and process optimization to streamline operations and enhance institutional profitability.
Since being appointed CFO in March 2022, she has led OppFi’s finance function, including financial reporting, technical accounting, tax, internal audit, capital markets, investor relations, and people operations and total rewards. Johnson’s efforts in the corporate development space supported OppFi’s recent announcement of an agreement to acquire Arizona-based BNCCORP and its wholly owned unit, BNC National Bank, in a cash-stock transaction worth about $130m. The transaction would bring together OppFi’s online lending operations and BNC’s national bank charter and banking infrastructure, broadening OppFi’s geographies and products including small business administration lending, secured consumer lending and wealth management. Johnson is also the Executive Sponsor of OppFi’s “Oppt for Gender Equality” and “Oppt for Pride” Business Resource Groups.
Johnson’s leadership was pivotal during OppFi’s 2021 transition to the public markets. She initially joined the organization in early 2021 as Consulting Chief Accounting Officer to manage the rigorous technical accounting and SEC reporting requirements of the IPO process. Her success in this role led to her appointment as Chief Accounting Officer later that year, during which she stabilized the accounting function during the company’s first year as a public entity, before ascending to the CFO role.
Prior to joining OppFi, Johnson established a formidable track record in the consumer finance and fintech industries. She served as Chief Financial Officer for Heights Financial Corporation and Pioneer Financial Services (both subsidiaries of the same holding company), where she managed banking and funding relationships for portfolios exceeding $250 million. During her tenure, she provided strategic financial leadership to navigate a $50 million acquisition, led due diligence for the successful sale of the company, and managed complex funding sources, including senior asset-based lines and retail investment notes. Earlier in her career, as CFO of Lincoln Office, she transformed a marginally profitable Steelcase dealership into one of the industry’s highest performers by modernizing information technology, human resources, and customer service operations.
Johnson serves as a Strategic Advisor for LawFi, Inc., where she cultivates banking and funding relationships for the innovative “Legal Fee Loan” asset class. She is deeply committed to her community, having served as the volunteer President of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra and Treasurer of the Creve Coeur Club of Peoria.
She holds a Master of Accountancy and a Bachelor of Business in Accountancy from Western Illinois University. Her multidisciplinary expertise in banking relationships, funding strategies, and business process improvement continues to shape the future of mission-driven financial services.
