Brian N. Schell

Cboe Global Markets, Inc.

Brian Schell is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at Cboe Global Markets, Inc. (Cboe), joining the company as Deputy CFO in 2017 as part of the Bats Global Markets acquisition.  Based in Chicago, he is responsible for all financial activities for the company, including accounting, finance, investor relations, treasury and capital markets activities. He is also responsible for other corporate administrative functions, including facilities. Additionally, Schell leads Cboe’s diversity initiatives as the company’s executive sponsor of diversity initiatives.

Schell joined Bats as CFO in March 2011 and, during his highly productive tenure, played a lead role in most of the company’s major accomplishments, including the successful April 2016 initial public offering and the acquisition by Cboe. His contributions and leadership were integral to the success of Bats, including the acquisitions of Direct Edge and Hotspot FX, as well as several significant debt transactions.

A 25-year veteran of the financial services industry, Schell previously spent 16 years at H&R Block Inc., where he held various senior leadership positions in operations and finance, including the chief financial officer of the tax services and financial advisors units, as well as corporate treasurer. During his time at H&R Block, he led several merger and acquisition assignments, while directing financial operations and strategic planning. Prior to joining Bats, Schell was chief financial officer at Pollen Inc., a Kansas City-based technology company working with large companies redeploying cash in their accounts payable.

Schell began his career as an analyst at JP Morgan & Co. in New York and spent five years in Washington, D.C., at KPMG and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, facilitating regulatory-assisted banking transactions.

Schell holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from The George Washington University. He holds a Series 27 license.
