Deborah Walters
EXP
Deborah Walters is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at EXP. In her role, she brings valuable insights to financial management, forecasting and risk management and prepares and equips EXP for financial stability and growth. Deborah applies 30+ years of financial expertise and experience to champion the firm’s financial success, shareholder return on investment and new opportunities for shareholders, employees and clients. Deborah leads a team of 125+ individuals, who serve the entirety of EXP’s financial functions including accounting and reporting, audit, corporate credit, budgeting, treasury, tax planning, insurance and risk management and distribution of shares for EXP’s global 3750+ employees. At EXP, Deborah manages the firm’s approximate $750 million yearly revenue.
Before joining EXP in 2016, Deborah spent 21 years at Related Midwest in various financial roles and ultimately served as their Chief Financial Officer from 2004 to 2016. Deborah managed the firm’s financial accounting and tax functions and was responsible for supporting their strategic development and growth strategies, including financial oversight of multimillion-dollar real-estate development projects, cashflows and payroll.
Deborah started her career at Deloitte as an auditor. She holds a Master of Science in Accounting, with distinction from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College, Magna Cum Laude.
Outside of EXP, Deborah serves as treasurer of Stories Matter Foundation, a 501c3 public charity dedicated to teaching the importance of writing. She is also an avid participant in Chicago’s music scene, supporting the return of Chicago venues that faced financial hardship during the pandemic.
