Devan Hughes

Devan serves as Chief Financial Officer of Lawrence Hall, a social service agency that’s been providing a wide range of therapeutic services to youth, families and communities in Chicago for over 160 years. She has spent over three years leading finance, managing an annual budget of $30M+, risk management, and more recently, facilities and IT. She has demonstrated strong leadership across multiple facilities and real estate initiatives for the agency and has played a key role in IT strategy, including system exploration and implementation. Given her growing impact and contributions, expanding her current roles and responsibilities is a natural next step.

Devan’s previous experience working in public accounting as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), specifically auditing nonprofits throughout the State of Illinois, serves as a foundation for her work ethic, attention to detail, and strategic mindset. She effectively leads multiple Subcommittees under the Lawrence Hall Board of Trustees and participates in an Illinois DCFS Child Welfare Advisory Committee as well as a Roundtable of Chicago CFOs and finance leaders. As the first female CFO of the agency, she enjoys her role as the founder and facilitator of the Women’s Affinity Group, where the 200+ females who work for Lawrence Hall can reflect, connect, learn and share their lived experiences.

In her spare time, Devan enjoys spending time with family and friends on the South Side of Chicago, where she was born and raised, and further developing her newfound passion for photography.
