Joel Pomerenk
Cara Collective
Joel Pomerenk joined Cara Collective as Chief Financial Officer in 2019, where he leads the workforce enterprise’s Finance, Contracts & Compliance, HR, Facilities, and Solutions teams. Joel has more than two decades of experience in senior finance leadership posts across Fortune 100, nonprofit, and education sectors. Under Joel’s financial leadership, Cara Collective has continued to see year-over-year revenue growth, including during the global pandemic. He also briefly served as the interim CEO for the $12.6M nonprofit during the summer of 2021 as the organization went under a leadership transition.
Prior to Cara Collective, he was at Oracle Corporation, where he managed various global financial planning and analysis functions for ten years, departing as Finance Vice President. His span of responsibilities included strategic budgeting, financial modeling, planning and reporting, and large-scale systems implementations, among others. Prior to that, he spent four years as Chief Financial Officer of Adler University, a Chicago-based nonprofit graduate school.
A California native, Joel earned his BA in Economics from Occidental College in Los Angeles, and his MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. He serves on the Board of Directors at MYSI, a Chicago-based social service organization, and enjoys coaching youth sports. He lives in Oak Park, Illinois with his wife and three children.
