Michael A. Riordan

FreightCar America, Inc.

Michael A. “Mike” Riordan serves as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of FreightCar America, Inc. (NASDAQ: RAIL), a role he has held since March 2022. Since joining the Company in November 2020, Mike has played a central role in FreightCar America’s financial and operational transformation, helping strengthen the Company’s financial foundation, improve business discipline, and position the organization for sustainable growth and long-term shareholder value creation.

Mike’s leadership extends well beyond the traditional CFO role. In addition to leading the Company’s finance organization, he is responsible for Information Technology and oversees FreightCar America’s Aftermarket business unit. His expanded scope reflects his ability to connect financial strategy, operational execution, technology infrastructure, governance, and commercial growth across the enterprise. Under his leadership, the Aftermarket business has become an increasingly important part of the Company’s growth strategy, including continued expansion of the business and the integration of Carly Railcar Components, which enhanced FreightCar America’s aftermarket distribution capabilities and recurring component offerings.

As CFO, Mike has helped guide the Company through a period of significant change, including industry cyclicality, inflationary pressures, supply chain disruption, capital markets scrutiny, and the ongoing repositioning of a legacy manufacturing business into a more resilient and growth-oriented enterprise. During this period, FreightCar America delivered meaningful improvement in revenue, gross profit, margin performance, Adjusted EBITDA, operating cash flow, and adjusted free cash flow. Mike has been instrumental in establishing the financial systems, controls, reporting discipline, and governance infrastructure needed to support the Company’s continued maturation as a public company.

Mike has also played a critical leadership role in preparing FreightCar America for accelerated-filer obligations and full SOX compliance. This work has required enterprise-wide coordination, process redesign, systems discipline, audit readiness, and a stronger culture of accountability. His leadership has helped elevate the sophistication of the finance organization while improving the quality and speed of strategic decision-making across the Company.

Mike brings more than two decades of accounting, finance, public-company, manufacturing, and operational leadership experience. Prior to joining FreightCar America, he served as Controller at InnerWorkings from 2017 to 2020. Before that, he held several financial management positions at Zekelman Industries from 2013 to 2017. Earlier in his career, Mike held various positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he built a strong foundation in accounting, controls, reporting, and financial discipline.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Miami University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
