Gail Prete
Old Town School of Folk Music Inc
Gail Prete joined the Old Town School of Folk Music as Controller in November 2019; she has recently been promoted to Chief Financial Officer, as her immediate supervisor will be retiring early next year. Due to this fortuitous timing, Gail has been very involved in guiding the school during the uncertainty of the pandemic. Gail is responsible for all financial functions of the school including reporting, cash management, accounts payable and payroll.
From 2004 to 2019, Gail was the Chief Financial Officer for Norwood Life Society, a long-term care organization in Chicago. While at Norwood, Gail was involved in several construction projects, securing a HUD loan and the acquisition of another not-for-profit long term care facility.
Gail is a Certified Public Accountant and earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. While Gail has been a Chicago resident for 30 years, she has roots in Wisconsin, where she grew up on family a dairy farm. Gail resides in the Edison Park neighborhood with her husband, Mark and two very spoiled cats. In her free time Gail enjoys bicycling, golfing and learning to play the Ukulele, through the wonderful classes offered at Old Town School.
