LeMonte Booker

Field Museum of Natural History

LeMonte Booker joined The Field Museum (Chicago, Illinois) in November 2015 and serves as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). His primary areas of responsibility include Finance, Protection Services, Human Resources, and Facilities Planning and Operations.

He is responsible for accounting, budgeting, grants administration, investments, debt compliance, in addition to security services, facilities management, which includes institutional construction projects and, human resources matters.

Prior to joining the Museum, he held several senior management positions at large nonprofit organizations.  He served for five years as the CFO for Easter Seals where he oversaw the finance, human resources, and office management functions.  LeMonte also served as the CFO for the American Academy of Pediatrics for four years where he oversaw finance and accounting, Federal grants management, and legal/contract management services.  For thirteen years at UCAN, which is one of the largest human services organizations in Illinois, he held various positions leading from Bookkeeper to Vice President  & CFO.  During his time at UCAN, LeMonte led the Finance, Facilities & Construction, and Information Technology departments.

LeMonte is very committed to the nonprofit sector with more than twenty years of experience. He received his MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management, completed his undergraduate work in Commerce/Accounting at DePaul University, and he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

 

LeMonte served three years as a member of the Board of Directors for the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois.  He served for six years on the Board of Directors for Asian Human Services in Chicago, and served two years as President of the CFO Roundtable of Chicago (a group of more than 70 nonprofit organization CFOs).  LeMonte also served on the Nonprofit Industry Advisory Committee for the Illinois CPA Society.

In his spare time LeMonte enjoys mentoring underprivileged youths and young adults, hiking in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois, weightlifting, basketball, and reading.
