Peter J. Bensen
Former CAO and CFO of McDonald’s Corporation
Peter J. (Pete) Bensen currently serves on the Boards of Lamb Weston Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:LW), a leading supplier of frozen potato and other food products to restaurants and retailers around the world and CarMax, Inc. (NYSE:KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used vehicles. Pete is chair of the KMX Audit Committee and a member of the LW Audit Committee. He previously served as a Director of Catamaran Corporation (NASDAQ:CTRX), a pharmacy benefit manager, from December 2011 to July 2015 (when company was sold to UnitedHealth Group), during which time he was Chair of the Compensation Committee.
In addition, Mr. Bensen previously served as Board Chair of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana, Trustee of the John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and Director of Empower Illinois.
Pete retired from McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) in September 2016 after a distinguished 20-year career. He was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer (“CAO”) on March 1, 2015 and was responsible for the following global departments: Finance, Supply Chain & Sustainability, Franchising, Information Technology, Restaurant Solutions Group, Security and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Prior to that, Pete was Chief Financial Officer, a position he held since January 2008. He is a past recipient of Financial Executives International’s Chicago Chapter CFO of the Year for Large Public Companies award.
Prior to joining McDonald’s, Pete was a senior manager for Ernst & Young in Chicago, where he served large multi-national audit clients.
Pete is a 1984 graduate of St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and is a CPA. He and his wife, Beth, reside in Downers Grove, Illinois and have three adult children.
